Graduation Requirements & Preparation

Are you clear to graduate? Have you completed all the necessary steps to ensure that you will be able to graduate and participate in the commencement ceremony?

Important Information for All Students

Requirements

  • Fill out an application to graduate: Students must apply for graduation by filling out an application form and paying the nonrefundable graduation fee. The application must be received by the deadlines posted in the college catalog. Undergraduates, Online Undergraduates and all graduate students apply online for graduation.
  • Deliver all transcripts from other institutions: All official transcripts from other institutions must be received in the Registrar’s office by April 1st. Seniors enrolled in a spring quarter class at a community college will have their graduation delayed until the following December. Participation in the graduation ceremony will be delayed until the following spring.
  • Complete the general course requirements: refer to the University Catalog.
  • Settle all financial obligation to the University.

Commencement

Commencement exercises take place once a year at the end of spring semester.

Diplomas

Please make sure that the Registrar’s Office has your current mailing address on file. Diplomas for students graduating in August or December will be mailed once a final degree audit is completed and degrees are posted.

Undergraduate Students

Requirements

  • Completion of all required courses in program of study and any other program requirements
  • Graduation application approved by your advisor and the Registrar
  • Favorable vote of the faculty
  • All incomplete grades must be completed and grades must be filed with the Registrar before the end of the term in which graduation is planned.

Commencement

It is expected that all graduating students will be present at the commencement except in cases of extreme emergency or circumstances beyond their control. Notice to graduate in absentia must be given to the Registrar well in advance.

In order to participate in commencement exercises, a student must have completed all degree requirements.

Undergraduate Online Students

Requirements

  • Complete all required courses in program of study and any other program requirements for graduation. Please refer to the University Catalog for specific degree requirements.
  • Fill out Undergrad Online Graduation Application. Students are expected to apply for graduation during the semester prior to their anticipated finish of coursework (see deadlines in Academic Calendar). A grad fee must also be paid for your application to be complete.

Commencement

The commencement ceremony is at the end of spring semester. Graduates (those who have completed all requirements) are welcome to participate and celebrate at this time. Diplomas will be mailed for the December and August graduates as soon as all requirements are fulfilled.

Graduate Students

Announcements

We will have a representative from Jostens on campus at our Grad Finale event. They can assist you with ordering graduation announcements, class rings, and other graduation items. You may also go online and order directly from the Jostens website.

Rehearsal

Rehearsal will be held the day of Commencement just prior to the ceremony. All graduates must plan to attend dressed in cap and gown.

There is no food available onsite, so plan accordingly.

Tickets

Corban University Commencement is a ticketed event. Tickets are not required for children under 2 years of age.

Guests will not be allowed to enter the auditorium during the processional or recessional.

*Anyone requiring special seating should arrive at least a half hour before the ceremony begins.

Number of Tickets

Each student participating in graduation will be permitted a set number of tickets for his/her guests. This set number is based on anticipated participation and available seating.

How to Get Tickets

Tickets are only available to eligible candidates for graduation who have filled out an application for graduation and indicated that they will be participating in graduation. If these two criteria are met, tickets will be available for pick-up at Grad Finale.

Extra Tickets

If you need extra tickets, we recommend checking with others who are graduating to see if they are using all of their tickets.

Graduates

Participating graduating students do not need a ticket for themselves.

NWCCU ACCREDITATION

Corban University is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) and completed a Year-Seven Comprehensive (Evaluation of Institutional Effectiveness (EIE)) in 2022 for continued accreditation. The comprehensive self-study was followed by an onsite evaluation in October 2022. In February 2023, Corban received reaffirmation of its accreditation for 7 years. Corban University’s last Mid-Cycle Evaluation was fall 2018, and its Policies, Regulations and Financial Review (PRFR) was completed in fall 2021. As of our most recent evaluation, Corban University is compliant with the Standards, Policies, and Eligibility Requirements of the NWCCU.
